Flags of Honor is the club's signature project and largest annual fundraiser. Since approximately 2014, the club has transformed Triangle Park in downtown Lock Haven into a patriotic display of full-sized American flags sponsored by community members in honor or memory of their loved ones. In 2024, 168 flags flew in the park; in 2025, more than 150.
This year marks the 12th annual Flags of Honor and coincides with America's 250th birthday celebration. The City of Lock Haven approved an extended display from May 22 through Flag Day, June 16, over three weeks. The ceremony is Sunday, May 24 at 11 AM at Triangle Park, featuring Posting of Colors, the National Anthem, Folding of the Flag, and Taps played by an Army master sergeant. Vocalists Sheila Carroll and Kim Vance will perform.
Kim Vance has been asked to sing "God Bless America" at the ceremony, with Heather Lively coordinating. District Governor Dawn Linn is confirmed to participate. Flags of Honor promotional posters are being distributed by Wendy Stiver — contact the club if you'd like one to display.
Sponsor a flag for $35 to honor or remember someone special. Corporate sponsorships are also available. Flag sponsorship deadline: May 11, 2026. Corporate sponsorship deadline: May 8, 2026. Contact dlhrotary@gmail.com.
Flags of Honor is supported by Angel Partners including Bear Country Radio, The Express, Nestlerode Contracting, and Schlesinger Communications, along with many corporate and individual sponsors from the Lock Haven community.
All proceeds fund scholarships for Central Mountain High School seniors and donations to local nonprofits.
In 2020, the club adapted the project to a newspaper ad format with $20 sponsorships, keeping the tradition alive during the pandemic.
